getting ready tips
Having your details ready for us to shoot before we arrive can help save so much time. Things like your rings, florals, jewelry etc in a box ready to go along with your dress already hung up will save us so much time.
This may be an impossible task but the more clean and tidy the getting ready room is the better. We usually don’t have time to come in and clean up a space so if you can manage to keep bags, boxes, etc in a specific corner that will help us get better shots of you getting ready.
For grooms prep is generally a smooth and quick getting ready process with the exception of boutonnieres and ties. Having these done by the time we get to you will again save us time.
Couples session TIPS.
We want the realness. The genuine laughs and smiles. The unscripted hugs and kisses. Don’t worry about posing focus more on being in the moment with each other.
Prompts over poses is a catchphrase you’ll here us use a lot and for good reason. With a pose everyone looks the same in their films and we prefer our films to be unique. Prompts help create unique versions for each couple, like doing a drunk walk, with no right or wrong way to do it. This gives us footage that looks unique to each couple and it keeps you in the moment rather than thinking about posing “correctly“.
Have someone nearby for things like refreshments for you or holding a bouquet/fixing the dress etc. This is usually assigned to a bridesmaid or planners assistant.
Scout your venue ahead of time and try to pick locations with less people traffic. All of your guests after your ceremony will be eager to greet you and congratulate you and while we love those moments, during your couples session we have a limited timeframe to work with you before entering into the reception so we shooting where there are less people is always ideal.
CEREMONY TIPS
Tell your officiant ahead of time to step aside before the first kiss so we can get the best shot of just the two of you.
If you are having an unplugged ceremony make sure to convey this to your guests before the wedding day. You can also have the officiant make an announcement before the ceremony starts to remind them to enjoy the moment and let the photo/video team capture the moment.
We recommend everyone speaking wear a mic for the ceremony. Yes including the bride. Why? Because it gives us the crispiest audio ever. Audio is half the viewing experience and although we could grab audio from a groom’s mic or a speaker, the best quality will come with a bride actually wearing a mic. (Unless of course we can’t hide it on your dress.) Does this mean you have to? Absolutely not. You can see a mic comparison video here on our instagram click here.
When you are walking down the aisle after your kiss celebrate! Wave your bouquet around, have another kiss down the aisle, look towards your guests, just enjoy the moment and don’t walk out too fast!
